Violets

Miles "Tails" Prower and his wife, Cream, were getting ready for the day. Tails was getting dressed for a day at the lab. However, he heard terrible sounds in the bathroom where cream was. He came and knock on the door to check on her.
"Cream?!" he called. "Are you alright?"
"I don't... blargh!" she couldn't finish as she vomited horribly again.
"Honey, you should stay home. I'll call Amy to keep an eye on you while I'm gone ok?" he asked his wife through the door.
"Ok, come home soon." she said.
"I love you." Tails said to her getting his last stuff he needed before departing.
"I love you, too." Cream replied getting her bearings back.
At the lab, Tails and an old friend of his, Rotor the walrus, a tinkerer like tails only he thought a lot of outside the box gadgets. He was applying the last minute touches on the new engine the two were working on.
"The red rings are in place." said the walrus.
"Alright, for this test lets run the generator at twenty percent." Tails said. He and rotor stood behind a shielded room as they were going to start the motor.
"Once this thing starts rolling this may give sonic a run for his money, if it works." said rotor.
"Yeah I hope it works this time." Tails said.
Tails pressed a few buttons and turned the dial which made the rocket engine began to roar to life.
"Now turning to fifty percent output." tails said turning the dial at a different setting.
The engine continued to roar. then, suddenly it began to shift around and came off the stationary housing and floated around the lab and smashed into the wall.
"Well the engine works." said rotor writing down some notes.
"But by the looks of it, we'll need to improve the cooling system so it doesn't over heat. If it's gonna work at higher outputs the engine will need to have the fuel feed encased into something that won't be in danger of melting." tails pointed to some melted spots on the engine.
"Speaking of fuel feed. we should take a break." said rotor.
"Yeah, I think so too." replied tails.
The walrus and the two-tailed fox had lunch, but their break was interrupted when a blue hedgehog came in as streak.
"Yo! Tails, Rot what's up?" said the blue hedgehog.
"Sonic? What are you doing here?" asked Tails.
"What? I can't visit my best buds." Sonic said.
"Yeah. I thought you were taking care of Flash?" Tails said to him.
"Where is that little guy?" asked Rotor.
"Amy took him with her to Cream." Sonic said. "Even though I thought she was sick. she seems ok when I dropped them off."
"I am glad she's doing better. She's been sick like this for weeks." Tails explained.
"Wait, weeks?" asked Sonic.
"But that's not just it." Said Tails.
"What do you mean?" asked Sonic.
At Tails and Cream's house, Amy was spoon feeding Flash as they were having lunch. Cream was eating a peanut butter sandwich with pickles as well as a salad. Cream ate almost as though she didn't eat a good meal in years. Amy looked at Cream with some concern in her eyes. Cream blushed totally embarrassed at Amy seeing her stuffing herself.
"I am sorry I am like this." she said nearly teared up.
"It's alright, after all, you do need something in you after you've spent the day puking." said Amy with a smile.
Flash cooed and waved his arms wanting his sippy cup.
"Ok. Flash here you go." Amy said handing her son the little cup. The hoglet giggled and drank his juice happily.
"He's so cute, Amy." Cream said to her.
"I know, he's cute as his dad." Amy giggled.
"Cream?" Amy asked
"Yes?" Cream replied.
"Don't you think, you could be having a baby which is why you've been sick?" Amy asked.
"What?! What are you saying?" Cream questioned Amy and blushed with worry and embarrassment.  
"You should do a test to be sure. Ok?" Amy exclaimed.
Meanwhile, back at the lab. As Amy was making Cream have the thought of the possibility of being pregnant, Tails, thanks to Sonic, was coming to that revelation as well.
"You're certain?" asked Tails.
"Yeah well when was the last time you did anything, you know romantic?" asked Sonic.
"Well it had to have been two or three months ago, on the night of our first anniversary." explained tails. He remembered that night well. There was dinner by candlelight, dancing the night away and one thing leading to another.
"Well that could be it." said Rotor. "After all after the fertilization process takes place it takes another few weeks to-"
"Whoa there Rot!" interrupted Sonic. "I think all of us know how it works."
"But again, you should do a test to be sure." exclaimed Sonic.
"Alright." replied Tails.
At the same time as Amy was putting Flash to sleep before the trip back home, Tails made a detour to a shop for pregnancy tests and some violets that haven't bloomed yet. Afterwards, he and Amy made their way home.Tails entered his home and Cream ran into his arms while he held the bag.
"I missed you." she said to him
"I missed you, too." he replied. He then looked into cream's brown eyes. They seemed to be nearly teary and worry filled.
"What's the matter?" he asked.
"Tails... I think we should do a pregnancy test. Amy suggested it." she said to him.
"Well... I did get you one cause Sonic, suggested it too and I got you these." he said showing the box and the violets.
Cream smiled taking the flowers and putting them in a vase.
"I am sorry they didn't have blooming ones yet." he apologized.
"It's alright. I love them anyway." she smiled.
After the both of them read the instructions, Cream went into the bathroom and did the test. Tails waited patiently. He was pacing back and forth in front of the door. A lot was going on in the two-tailed fox's mind. Was he going to be a good father when he was but an orphan? He knew Cream would be a good mother but he began to doubt himself. Then he remembered.  He had accomplished a lot of things in his youth and now. He had become a prodigious engineer in aeronautics and robotics at a young age. He learned to fly a plane when he was eight. Also, he had battled the forces of evil alongside sonic and many other friends. He defeated the battle bird armada and on a few occasions bested Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik on his own. As the door creaked open, he took a deep breath.
Cream came in clutching a white strip she quietly handed it to him. She looked at him with tears of worry. Tails took a look at the strip and saw in bright pink was a plus sign. He glanced at the strip and Cream back and forth. He then looked at her blankly.
"Tails?" she said to him worriedly.
Tails didn't answer. Instead, he hugged her as tight as he could. Then realizing what he was doing he gave her some space and placed his hand on the tiny bulge in her stomach. He looked at her and smiled and so did she.
The next morning, the violets sat in the morning sun absorbing the first light of the day. The violet buds were still not in bloom save for one.
